Two soldiers, two terrorists killed in terror attack on Sunjuwan Military Station

Suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists launched a pre-dawn attack on Sunjuwan Military Station in Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday. The ensuing gun battle between security forces and terrorists resulted in the killing of 2 soldiers and 2 terrorists.

One Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was among the two security personnel killed in the exchange of fire.  Nine persons were injured (including five women and children) as the attack took place inside the residential area of the Military Station. The place of attack has since been cordoned off.

“Terrorists, wearing combat uniforms and wielding AK-56 rifles, entered the Station around 04:45 in the morning and were challenged by alert securitymen on duty,” a PRO of Ministry of Defence said. “Two terrorists and an equal number of security personnel were killed in gunfire; search of the belongings of the terrorists confirmed that they belonged to the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed,” he added further.

Condition of two of the wounded civilians is said to be critical even as security forces are carrying out search operations to apprehend the missing terrorists involved in the attack. The attack was on the cards as terrorists were observing the fifth anniversary of hanging of 2001 Parliament attack mastermind Afasl Guru who was hanged to death on 09th February, 2013.
