These it is poetically correct to show students as being very responsible and going to any length to achieve any goal. There is nothing wrong with this, per se. But when it is taken  to absurd lengths like director Balachari has done in Vidyardhi, you almost feel like fleeing the theater.

The story of Vidyardhi is implausible and it has been stretched to such a level just to incorporate lot of fight, stunts and fun. Just consider this for story: A dreaded mafioso Salim Ibrahim (Rahul Dev in a thinly disguised variation of the original dawood Ibrahim) makes money out of other fears. He extorts fortunes from the big honchos like film producers, realtors, businessmen. But when kills an engineering college chairman for failing to cough up the Rs.two crore he had demanded, all hell breaks loose. Some students commit suicide. Things look like going out of hand.

But a group of otherwise perfectly fun-loving youths are out to save the college as their future depends on it. They are lead by Kranthi (ramesh). Besides loving Aditi and painting the town red, he gives Salim the comeuppance.

It is a story that is loaded with tripe and is full of trite situations.

Ramesh as the hero is full of beans in dance and fights. But he does not show the acting skills nor the charisma to survive in these competitive times. Aditi is quiet and dignified and she uses the small opportunity that has come her way. Prakash Raj, as the college administrator, is okay. Rahul Dev oozes menace but little else.

The rest of the cast has nothing much to do. The music is rhythmic and with typical youthful zest.

The director Balachari has to come up with something drastically different if we are to believe that he is a good talent.
