‘Prince of Kolkata’ and former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly has said that he felt that India’s present cricket captain Virat Kohli was more talented than ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar, with whom Gangulay had played together for many years.

At a time when almost everyone is dubbing Kohli as the next ‘Sachin’, Saurav Ganguly has gone on record stating that Kohli was more talented than Sachin.  He has also come out with his comments on Kohli’s captaincy and the manner in which he manages the team as well as his batting skills.  Ganguly’s comments have been made soon after India beat South Africa 5-1 in the recently concluded ODI series.

“I, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Sehwag were once part of the Indian team and were hailed as ‘all-time greats’.  However, Kohli is on a very different level and I feel he and his deeds are greater than ours.  Dhoni led the team very well and made India a champion team.  Kohli, however, seems to have overtaken Dhoni.  I can’t comprehend how Kohli manages the team as well as his own batting (form) across all formats.

“Everybody compares Kohli to the great Sachin Tendulkar whom I have observed from close quarters for many years.  With all due respects to Sachin’s impeccable batting abilities, I feel Kohli is talented than Sachin.  India has many more challenges ahead and Kohli has to win in Australia, New Zealand, England and West Indies.  I’m sure his wide range of talents would be on display during these series,” Ganguly concluded.
