'Waltair Veerayya' is creating a bloodbath at the US box office. The Chiranjeevi-Ravi Teja movie grossed more than $1.7 million in its first weekend. The film was released on Friday (January 13). If advance sales for Monday are taken into consideration, the movie has already achieved breakeven. The breakeven figure is $1.8 million. And it is going to cross the 2-million-dollar mark in a matter of a few hours.

On the other hand, Nandamuri Balakrishna's 'Veera Simha Reddy' grossed $1 million already. The Gopichand Malineni directorial had the first-mover advantage, as it hit the screens on January 12. Its premiere sales collected more than Chiranjeevi's movie. However, 'Waltair Veerayya' came to attract better word of mouth and that's how it eventually dominated Balayya's movie.

This Sankranthi has proved that the Telugu audience love to watch Chiranjeevi in entertaining roles more than serious parts. As for 'VSR', Balayya's movie has achieved breakeven easily by grossing a one-million-dollar figure.

Both the big stars have kicked off 2023 by proving that they are in the race with young heroes. The game is on!
