If you thought Gautami is the only woman in Kamal Haasan's life who has accused him of something or the other, you are wrong. Bharatanatyam exponent Vani Ganapati, better known to most as Kamal's ex-wife, had in 2015 suggested that many of the claims the actor had made with regards to her were utter falsehoods.

The two were a married couple between 1978 and 1988. When they fell out due to differences and Vani demanded alimony from her divorced husband, Kamal duly gave her and, years later, claimed that the settlement left him bankrupt. He also claimed that he had to move to a rented apartment with his daughters because of the settlement.

In a 2015 interview, Vani told a national daily that there is no truth in what Kamal had claimed. She said that such things don't happen in India as courts themselves don't give orders that potentially bankrupt husbands. "He (Kamal) says that he had to move to a rented place, but when did Kamal ever own a house at that point of time?" she asked in the interview.

Vani also openly said that, if Kamal had indeed become bankrupted, there must be other reasons for it. She refused to speak of what she thought are the reasons.
