Congress president Rahul Gandhi has questioned Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s silence in the Rs.13,000-crores Punjab National Bank scam involving the eloped industrialist Nirav Modi.

Opposition parties are taking the BJP-led Centre to task for allowing Nirav Modi to escape so easily from the country. Rahul, who has been on a tour of South East-Asian countries, has launched a scathing attack on the Centre in general and on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in particular for remaining silent on the issue.

“It turns out that Jaitle’s advocate daughter received a huge sum of money for her firm’s legal services a month before Nirav Modi abandoning the country. This could be the reason why Jaitley has remained silent on the issue,” Rahul tweeted thus on his Twitter account.

Rahul has also urged the Centre to think about the possibility of conducting raids by the CBI at the legal services firm run by Arun Jaitley’s daughter.
