A woman from Bangalore has accused a Swiggy delivery man of seeking sexual favours from her while he delivered the food at her doorstep. The company has landed itself in trouble after it sent an apology and a coupon worth Rs. 200 to the complainant. The woman posted the event on her social media account that went viral in a few hours.

While handing her the food, the delivery person apparently mumbled something to her and she was stunned to realize that he was actually asking her for sexual favours using a derogatory term. “I was taken aback... had to literally snatch my food package from him and shut my door on his face. I was... disgusted to let alone eat, but to even look at the food,” the woman’s post read. Swiggy reportedly responded with an apology and a Rs. 200 coupon when she filed a complaint with them.

After the woman posted recounted the event on her Facebook page, a spokesperson of the food delivery app later responded to that stating, “Customer safety is of utmost importance to us at Swiggy, and we maintain zero tolerance towards any misbehavior. Since this misunderstanding between the customer and delivery executive came to our notice, we have been in touch with the customer constantly. We have extended our full support to the investigation and the matter has been resolved with all parties involved. Swiggy is committed to bringing in the necessary confidence and control in providing great consumer experience.”

"IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST and WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN until we talk about it and create awareness. So here I am sharing my incident from yesterday 28th of Mar'19. I decided to order food from Swiggy it was between 10:00p.m to 10:20p.m. when I placed the order. I have on many ocassions placed orders on even later time of the nights so it was nothing out of the unusual thing for me. Although, in the back of my head I always had some fears about letting some stranger come to your address to ur door and open the door for them.
So coming back to the point, it was 10:44 p.m. when I got the call form the Swiggy Delivery Partners on the phone I directed him to my apparment to my door. He arrived after sometime and as soon as I opened the door he said something a bit inaudible, I thought he was asking for a 5 star rating which usually the delivery people do, I almost as a reflex said "ok" and was reaching for my food I realised he was still saying something this time clear. I was taken aback and didnt know what to do except act like I didnt hear it. I had to literally snatch my food package from him and shut my door on his face. I was shivering from inside and was disgusted to let alone eat but to even look at the food. It was tainted with his disgusting intent. I froze behind my door for about 5 seconds and re-did my door locks again.

I know the person could not speak english as I had spoken to him earlier on the phone while giving him directions. He said "Fuck u?" He said it repeatedly. It must be funny for some of u reading it right now but for me, to be there, looking at his creepy smiling face and his whole posture made clear of his intentions.

I obviously made a complaint to the customer service and "sorry" and a 200 Rs coupon was what I got as compensatio. He has tasted the fear he filled me with, he will do it again to somebody else or even me as he knows where I live and that I live alone.
I want strict action taken against this individual Swiggy and additional measures to avoid similar mishappenings in the future.
I urge u all to share this post or any act of misconduct if you too have ever faced and spread it as much as u can. Together can create awareness to avoid further acts of ill intent leading to even worst consequences.
#Swiggy #swiggydeliverypartners needs to act on this."
