Yashpal Sharma has shed his villain tag. His brilliant performances in Chameli, Lagaan, Gangajal and Apaharan have brought him critical acclaim. He now will play the lead in Shyam Benegal’s Chamki. In Chamki he plays the husband to the protagonist.

He was recently nominated for his performance in Apaharan with Nana Patekar in the same category for a popular award. He is also playing the villain in Anees Bazmee’s Benaam with Rahul Dev. He has also plays the lead in Jahnu Barua’s Chasing Butterflies. In this film he plays a reformed and handicapped terrorist in J&K.

The story is about his relationship with a child. He relates his work with that of Balraj Sahni in Kabuliwala and Pran in Nanha Farishta. He is also hopeful about Paresh kamdar’s film Johny Johny Yes Papa where he plays the lead with a child. He is expecting quite a lot from the film. he also plays the lead opposite Divya Dutta in Sushen Bhatnagar’s Trisha.
