Kumar Mangat’s daughter makes her much awaited debut this year with great support from her dad and good friend Anil Devgan. Haal-E-Dil brings a mix of composers ranging from Vishal Bharadwaj , Pritam , Raghav Sachar and Anand Raj Anand .
The album opens to the sufi rendition of the title track by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan with lyrics by Munna Dhiman. Shreya Ghosal adds her bit to the 7min long folksy track. It’s an impressive number that carries serene values.
Another rendition of this track is done by Rekha Bharadwaj . Though the track is supposed to be the remix version it is folksier and provides for some good listening.
‘Jeeta Hoon’ brings in Sonu Nigam trying to recreate the passion that Sonu made with his debut albums. The song is more like a lover’s chant but fails to offer something extremely new and is just a fair job. The composition has been done by Anand Raj Anand. Pamela Jain’s melodious voice is overshadowed by Sonu.
'Agg Lage Aaj Kal De Fashion Nu' (that’s a really long title for a track) brings in the missing Punjabi elements for any debutant to display his/her dancing skills. The track brings in the master of chartbuster’s Pritam . The voices bring in Labh Jajua of the hit number 'Pyar Karke Pachtaya' (Pyaar Ke Side Effects) and Hard Kaur whose ‘Ek Glassy’ has been a huge hit. Looks the two are headed for yet another chartbuster with Pritam anchoring them.
Raghav Sachar does his bit for Kumar Mangat with ‘Rang’. The track brings in Sonu Nigam but fails to impress as the track sounds stale. It’s more like a repeat of Raghav’s ‘Kabul Express’ , ‘One Two Three’.
The remix version of the track offers nothing much with just the change of voice. Raghav now takes his place behind the mike.
Kumar Mangat makes sure that the heroes wooing his daughter in the film look no less than Shahrukh Khan of the next generation and thus Anand Raj Anand brings in ‘Oye Hoye’ a track synonymous to Karan Johar and Yash Raj films. Udit Narayan croons to the ‘dholaks’ and desi beats. The track yet isn’t something new and sounds more monotonous.
‘Rani’ takes off with some slow paced guitar beats and from there on Sonu Nigam takes off with a romantic song that is worth humming over again. Anand Raj excels with his composition this time around in creating a perfect song for the lovelorn. The guitar in the background really works its magic.
‘Khwahish’ opens with some inspiring dialogues on true love and then Shaan takes over. Raghav Sachar combines with lyrics by Aditya Dhar to provide something targeted at the young at heart by adding in the pop elements. Sunidhi Chauhan and Raghav himself joins Shaan on the mike. The track falls flat and is an overdose of dialogues mixed in with a number that’s nothing more than a cliché.
The album finally comes across as the work of several composers. But how many of their compositions live up to the title and theme of the film? Let’s hope that the title track, ‘Rani’ and ‘Fashion Nu’ does the magic for Mangat and his daughter. All in all , it’s just an average album.
