Evaraina Epudaina - Love can happen anywhere, anytime
IndiaGlitz  [Friday, June 26, 2009]

Is there love at first sight? Can it happen anywhere? Will it last once it happens? These are the things that tend to be always debatable in real life. However, the story seems to strongly believe that love surpasses all barriers. How it happens, let us go and see…

Story

Madhumita (vimala) is a beautiful girl with an even more beautiful heart. She looks after the old age home and also has a granny (Rama Prabha). One day, her granny meets with an accident and she lands up in hospital and this accident is caused due to Venkat (varun) who also has a granny admitted into the hospital due to this. Venkat falls in love with her and he is a happy go lucky guy who takes things easily. Venkat uses his brains and slowly, he is successful in getting Madhu’s attention. However, he does a small mistake and this results in the break up of engagement of Madhu’s sister Bhargavi (reshmi) and Venkat knows he is the cause for it and wants to make up for it. Soon, the truth comes out and Madhu breaks her relation with Venkat. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances

Varun Sandesh did a good job given his versatile performance and he was there on the screen for almost 90% and carried himself well. Vimala Raman looked truly gorgeous and she had a lot of sex appeal in her which will make her good for glamour roles too.  Kota was brief, Anu Haasan was neat, Giri Babu was upto the standard, Surekha Vani was okay, both Venu Madhav and Ali did their bit to generate comedy, Reshmi looked beautiful and Rahul was also quite brief. The others like Rama Prabha, Sakuntala, Kovai Sarala, Radha Kumari, Brahmanandam just came and went.

Technical aspects

The dialogues were not that great, script lacked the strength and the screenplay was weak. Background score was not required at few places while the music has not been that great. Especially, the sync between the music and the songs did not have much link. Cinematography was upto the standard and editing could have been crisp during the second half. Costumes were impressive and decent, art department was also rich enough.

Director’s portrayal

The director could have made a better deal out of it but then he was poor in his narrative skills. The title indicates a strong romantic flavor but then the major part has been focused on comedy which was not at all working except few instances. He could have made better use of senior actors like Kota, Giri Babu, Venu Madhav, Ali to a better usage. The director should have focused on bringing a feel to the romance flavor and this was the essence which was missing.

Critic’s view

The film will fail to engage the audience throughout. The wafer thin plot and the poor comedy tracks are responsible for that. Also, there are a few episodes that end without proper landing so this causes a bit of confusion. The main drawback has been the below average comedy that takes place in the entire first half. Also, not many romantic scenes are present to actually induce that feeling of love in the air. Technically, the film has been above standards and the performance from the lead pair has been good. This will appeal to the family audience a bit but the mass category doesn’t have much to carry home.
