Send us your feedback to audioarticles@vaarta.com
Naga Chaitanya's 'Dohchay' was released on April 24th and Sudheer Varma, the director of the film, is very happy with the response. He speaks about the film, the best compliment he got, his film with Nagarjuna etc in an interview.
Excerpts...
Not his idea
After 'Swamy Ra Ra', I got a call from Chaitanya and he expressed interest to work with me. It is not his idea to act as a conman. When I narrated 'Dohchay' subject to him, he liked it and his role very much. It is how the movie started.
I find them interesting
I would have become a thief, if not a director (laughs). I frequently watch CCTV footages of robberies on TV and I find them very interesting. So I like to present such interesting robberies on screen. But my next film will not be based on robberies.
Climax is a big plus
I think climax is a big plus for 'Dohchay' As hero is a conman, I wanted to show how he cons the villain in the end. As I know how the climax should be, I didn't show villain seriously from the beginning. I directed the film how I wanted it to be and many are enjoying it, particularly the climax.
Very apt for the roles
Naga Chaitanya did 100% justice for the hero role. He acted very well. Kriti Sanon is a very good actress and I am very fortunate to have worked with her. After the look test, I liked the pair very much and we went ahead.
Many asked me why the heroine smokes in the film. I have many friends who smoke and didn't find anything wrong if the heroine smokes in a film.
Will prepare subject for Nagarjuna
Nagarjuna liked 'Dohchay' very much. He said that that the film is very stylish and the last 30 minutes are hilarious. He asked me to prepare a stylish action entertainer subject for him and said that he will work with me after his current projects are completed.
Best compliment from Ravi Teja
The best compliment from industry came from Ravi Teja. He called me and said that the film is extraordinary and he enjoyed it very much.
They didn't compromise
BVSN Prasad's son Bapineedu and I are very good friends. We know each other, even before I became a director. The production values of 'Dohchay' are very good. The producers never said that the film should be completed below a particular budget. They gave me good freedom. Cameraman Richard Prasad also did a fantastic job.
So I added commercial elements
When we were working for 'Swamy Ra Ra', there were no expectations on the film. I directed the film focusing on the point with no commercial elements. As it became a big hit, there have been good expectations on 'Dohchay'. So I added some commercial elements in this film like Brahmanandam's comedy and stunts.
Will direct a periodic film
I have no dream projects. I do films which I think will suit a particular time. But I have a periodic film subject and I want to direct it in future.
