Ram Gopal Varma is gearing up for the release of 'Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu' on November 29. In this interview, catch him talk about the movie, what he intends to say through it, the characters of Pawan Kalyan and NTR (if any), how he sees it as a satire and more.

It's satire plus fun

This one is my first message-oriented film. Scams, political slugfests, etc are commonplace in our country. 'KRKR' tells the story of what has happened since May 2019 and what might happen. It's a mix of fun, politics and satire.

No offence meant

This is the first political fiction based on real characters. The film doesn't demean one community or glorify another. I haven't targeted anyone through songs like 'Pappu Laanti Abbayi'. Any resemblance is coincidental. I have shown the reality as it is.

Dedication

I am dedicating this movie to a prominent father-son duo. I hereby request one and all to refrain from asking me their names. The film has no factionalism backdrop.

Finding a CBN lookalike

When I wanted to cast an actor in the role of a former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (indirectly referring to Chandrababu Naidu), I zeroed in on a waiter from Nasik. He was given acting training for a month.

No issues with Censor Board

Since I haven't disrespected any community in the movie, the Censor Board hasn't raised any sort of objection.

I welcome abuses

I can't sleep properly if people don't abuse me. People praising me makes me feel sleepy.

It will take another 'Sarkar'

If I have to make a political drama on the going Maharashtra political thriller, I will have to make a 'Sarkar'. Political situations are fluid at times.

Politics = Entertainment

These days, I am finding political fights more interesting than gang wars. That's why I am doing films like this one. Most of the politicians talk in a vague manner. Politics is nothing but entertainment. When Jaganmohan Reddy shouted down the Opposition leader in the Assembly, it caught my attention. I remember only such things and forget the rest.

TDP guys are loving it

I have heard from my sources that the Telugu Desam people have loved the trailer of 'KRKR' more than others. They are loving in maybe because the film says boldly what they can't.

No threats

I have not received any threats. Nowadays, people are scared that the receiver of a threat might do phone-recording of the conversation.

Novel film

'KRKR' is going to show what is going to happen in the future. What new can you expect?

It's not a comedy

'KRKR' is just a political satire. It doesn't take sides or favour any party. Satire is philosophical, political and intelligent. It's not a comedy. If a father is serving 'pappu' to his son in the movie and you want to laugh, you can do so. I see only love in it.

Of NTR and Pawan Kalyan

The 'Buddodu' reference in the trailer is a matter of suspense for now. You have to watch it in the movie. There is no Pawan Kalyan's character in the movie. An actor who resembles him is there. His party's name is Mana Sena.

I am the voice

My directors Agasthya Manju and Siddhartha Thatholu are not speaking to the media out of their volition. I am representing my movies because I can speak better.

Upcoming movies

'Enter The Girl Dragon' is an Indo-Chinese production that took time for me to complete. I am a huge fan of Bruce Lee and this one is a tribute to him. 'Rangeela' tribute, 'Beautiful', has come out beautifully. It will release soon. I am not focussing exclusively on biopics.

Can't do a 'Shiva' now

If people expect a 'Shiva' from me, I can only say that it's not there in my pocket to ferret out such films. Filmmaking is all about teamwork nowadays. From action sequences to execution, a lot is taken care of by people other than the director. I initiate projects, conceive ideas and guide my team thereafter.
