The results of the third seropositive survey carried out by the ICMR have been leaked by a news report. As per the report, as many as 30 crore Indians may have already contracted the virus and recovered from it silently. Needless to say, the official figures are a fraction of this.

As per a TNIE report, as much as 25% of Indians have developed antibodies. The survey was held in December and January in 70 districts. About 400 blood samples were tested. The ICMR is yet to reveal the figures officially.

The survey suggests that many towns and cities in the country have reached the herd immunity level. That's why cases are not going up and have been falling over the weeks.

Meanwhile, as much as Rs 35,000 crore has been allocated for COVID-19 vaccines in the new Budget, tabled by the Finance Minister on Monday. This will be towards the commitment to provide further support as needed and will help end this pandemic, the Ministry of Health said.
