Forming a union that too a trade union had been always looked upon as a step for the well being of its members and of those who were associated with the trade. But here in Mollywood a few among the filmi technicians are in the down side following the formation of various union activities.

According to most independent technician unions under MACTA, a debutante must have to work in at least three films before they become independent workers. Till then the members can have an associate membership by paying an amount. This seems to be a better initiative to avoid amateur incumbents to work for bigger trades, but the actual problems is that many among the 16 unions under are asking a big amounts for their associate memberships.

And so many new technicians like the editors are forced to work in new films with out giving their credits in the titles or else they will give a their names under ‘cuts' or 'montage' and display names of someone who is having the actual membership below the credit of editing. In some films, the credit roll even doesn’t show the title of ‘editing’.

Recent films like ‘Calcutta News’ and ‘Sound Of Boot’ all carry names under the credit 'cuts' and 'montages'. With new creative talents coming up day after day in various departments, the necessity of working as associates paying heavy amounts is posing great threat to the youth who want to excel in cinema fields.
