The Censor Board of Film Certification has stopped the screening of The Argumentative Indian, based on a book of the same name by Amartya Sen, as it has words such as “cow”, “Hindu India”, “Gujarat” and “Hindutva view of India".
Censor Board members, who watched the documentary in Kolkata, decided that it can be screened only if all of these words are beeped, and gave it a U/A certificate.
The documentary shows speeches delivered by Sen during various events, and was shot in two parts in 2002 and 2017.
The Censor Board recently had a problem with the word “intercourse” in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal.
