BJP to be part of Megahalaya’s new Govt. with NPP

National People’s Party (NPP) and the BJP would together form the next Govt. in Meghalaya, it is reported.

NPP president Conrad Sangma, son of former Lok Sabha Speaker P.A. Sangma, is likely to be sworn tomorrow as the next chief-minister of the State.

Congress won 21 MLAs in the just concluded Assembly polls but the combination of NPP and the BJP has staked the claim to form the next Govt. in the State.  Conrad Sangma met Governor Ganga Prasad in Shillong yesterday and staked the claim to form the next Govt. telling the Governor that his coalition had support of 34 MLAs.

“Running a coalition Govt. is never an easy job; however, I’m confident that MLAs of other parties who have assured support to us would keep people and the State’s welfare in mind and work for the State’s overall progress,” Sangma said after meeting the Governor.
