A 12 year old young boy due to his sheer courage and presence of mind was able to save his uncle's life from a crocodile.The incident took place in Odisha's Kendrapara when the boy Shiku along with his 26 year old uncle Binod Mallick entered a creek from where a crocodile emerged.

Binod even though suffered multiple injuries in his hand and thigh following the attack by the reptile was able to save his life when his nephew drove the dangerous beast away. Shiku used a torchlight to distract the crocodile and continued to hit on the crocodile's head with a bamboo stick until it let go of his uncle and retreated back.

The survivor is currently undergoing treatment in government hospital and the costs are incurred by the state's forest department which also has assured a compensation to the the survivor's family.

Praises have been puring in for the boy's courage and ability to think fast when situation demanded it.
