After suffering a 10-wicket defeat in their match last night against Mumbai Indians, CSK's skipper MS Dhoni admitted that his side failed to live up to its potential the whole season.

With six points from eleven matches, the Chennai team remains at the bottom of the points table and is officially the first team to be ruled out for a chance at the playoffs. "What you need to see is what are the things that are going wrong, especially this year; it hasn't been our year. Whether you lose by 8 or 10 wickets, it hardly matters, but where we are at this stage of the tournament, it does hurt," Dhoni said during the post-match presentation. Meanwhile, fans of the beloved captain have begun speculating that this might be the last IPL season for Dhoni. The rumours started after Dhoni was seen handing out his jerseys to other cricketers. Earlier this week, England's Jos Buttler was captured posing with one of Dhoni's No.7 CSK jerseys, autographed by the skipper himself. Last night, Mumbai Indians' Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya posed with a similar jersey gifted by Dhoni. "I can see many players getting Autographed jerseys from #Dhoni this year. Is this his last year?" a social media user had written. MS Dhoni announced his formal retirement from international cricket on August 15.

Adding that the final three matches of the tournament might be good preparation for the upcoming season of IPL, Dhoni said, "We need to have a clear picture for the next year. The kind of auction, where the venues will be, and you want to give the boys a chance to perform and show their talent. We have to make the most of the next three games and it is good preparation for the next year. Identify the batsmen, who will bowl at the death and hopefully the players will soak up the pressure."
