It seems to be the days of anthology films in Mollywood. Following the likes of `5 Sundarikal' and Kerala cafe' which garnered much of the repute, here comes a portmanteau with some short thrillers. Definitely another standout production with each of the films standing examples for the finesse of the directors who made it, `D company is an interesting watch for all lovers of good and meaningful  cinema.

The first of the trio is the one directed by M Padmakumar in the scripts of G S Anil. The movie tells about the highhanded officer Nripan Chakraborthy(Naren) who is bestowed with some high honours for his sincere, dedicated work in the police office. But a women journo who has first handed information about his brutal killings during his search for a hidden Naxalite , remembers about the action which had many tribals killed in police raids, all due to this officer who enjoyed  the high spirits of  ultimate power

The second story directed by Deephan in the scripts of Anoop Menon is a typical investigative thriller with its share of fine dialogues and sequences. The movie has Anoop Menon as Akbar working with the Bangalore Police, who is assigned to find clues into the murder of the liquor baron Ajay Malliya. He soon lands at Thrissur, which is currently the haven of all underworld activities. With the help of his team of shadow police he eliminates the notorious' gangs of Vadakkumnathan', headed by Viraal Jaison(Jayasuriya) kuppy Simon, also  making a big sum to fund the intelligence wing under him.

The third and the most interesting of the portmanteau is the one by Vinod Vijayan. The movie featuring Fahad fazil in the lead has him as Sunil, a doctor who is currently into bad times following the untimely death of his wife Jeena(Bhama) and the discovery  of three day old corpse in his apartments. The police under ACP Zarina (Thanushree) engage in the some mind games which makes every one involved in the crime, much difficult to crack. Another example of affine script in recent times, the short film which last an hour is interestingly paced and directed.

The three movies offers plenty of performance space for all the actors in the frame. Asif ali repeats his ordinary act as tribal youth Chinnan while Jayasuriya is impressive as the goonda leader with that Thrissur slang. Anoop Menon and Unni Mukundan play safe in the role of police officers while Samudhirakani';s role of Aadigiri, the Naxal leader is an extension of his role in `Shikaar'.But the actor who really steals the show once again, seems to be Fahad Fazil. It seems like all these greatly written roles were waiting in the white paper for this actor to arrive and give them life. Such is his performance in his last of the trio-the judgment day'. Supporting him in fine spirits is Thanushree Ghosh as ACP.

On the whole this `D company' with fine technical sides, good stories and fine execution is a must watch for all lovers of experimental and thriller movies.
