Director Pa. Ranjith lauds this latest Malayalam movie

There is a lot of buzz around Pada, starring Vinayakan, Joju George, Kunchacko Boban and Dileesh Pothan. Pada, which hit the theatres recently and opened to rave reviews from all quarters. As praises keep pouring in for the Kamal KM directorial, renowned Tamil director Pa. Ranjith penned a note in his official Twitter handle in praise of the film. Pa. Appreciating the director for recreating an actual incident on screen without compromising.

Pada, meaning battalion, is based on a real incident that happened in Kerala at the Palakkad Collectorate in 1996, when four members from pro-Maoist outfit Ayyankali Pada stormed into the office and held the then collector WR Reddy as hostage for nearly nine hours demanding tribal land rights. The film is receiving much appreciation from the audience for its realistic portrayal of execution and the terrific performances. Actors Kunchacko Boban, Vinayakan, Joju George, Dileesh Pothan, and Arjun Radhakrishnan play the characters based on the real lives of Rakesh Kangangad, Balu Kallar, Aravind Mannur, Narayanankutty, and Ajay Sripad Dange respectively.

The main attraction of the film is the ensemble cast, which includes Prakash Raj, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Indrans, Salim Kumar, Jagadish, T G Ravi, Unnimaya Prasad, Savithri Sreedharan, V K Sreeraman, Shine Tom Chacko, Gopalan Adat, Sudheer Karamana, Dasan Kongad, Kani Kusruti, James Elia, Sajitha Madathil, Gopal, Kottayam Ramesh, Shankar Ramakrishnan, among others. Produced by Mukesh R Mehta, A V Anoop and C V Sarathi, the film has noted cinematographer Sameer Thahir cranking the camera. While Shan Mohammed is the editor Vishnu Vijay composes the background score and the songs penned by Vinu Kidachulan.
