'Tulasidas, who directed my first film in Malayalam, was not happy with my voice''. Said Gopika in a recent interview. She adds that Cheran encouraged her to speak her lines in both Tamil and Telugu versions of "Autograph".

Gopika, who has done more than 25 films in south Indian languages of which 15 in Malayalam, half a dozen in Tamil, the same number in Telugu and one in Kannada is thus proving to be an actress, realizing her strengths and falls and analyzing her successes.

Gopika has tasted success once again with her recent movie Em Magan in Tamil which is running to full audiences.

’I have realized that homely roles suit me best,'she said.

There are so many shades to such characters which will be challenging to portray. Differing from other Malayalam heroines who made into Kollywood, Gopika has been able to portray a variety of roles, apart from being not too glamorous as in Kana Kanden, Ponniyan Selvan, Thotti Jaya and Aran. Gopika has now come to be considered as a lively, attractive girl next door.

In Malayalam also she is going strong with tailor made roles to suit her screen presence and homely.

In this Ramzan, she has charged up into the big league by being the female lead opposite Mammootty in Pothen Vava.
