'Guru' - A much awaited film before the year ends

2006 has been a great year so far with variety of subjects making an impression and raking in moolah at the box office. Well, the year ahead promises to end on a bright note too with Mani Ratnam's 'Guru' being one of the last films of the year that is aiming for a December 22 release.

The first look of the film alone has created an immense buzz about it with just three words summing up the essence of 'Guru' - VILLAGER, VISIONARY, WINNER!

The shot shows Abhishek Bachchan from behind with his black coat on while addressing hundreds of villagers who wait for him in thunderous rain with their umbrellas on. Sepia look of the frame only adds on to the effect.

Comprising of an excellent starcast of Mithun Chakraborty, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhavan, John Abraham, Vidya Balan and Kunal Kapoor along with Mallika Sherawat and Arya Babbar, 'Guru' has music by A.R.Rehman, lyrics by Gulzar, cinematography by Rajiv Menon, action by Vikram Dharma, art by Sabu Cyril/Samir Chanda, editing by Sreekar Prasad and dialogues by Anurag Kashyap. Apart from direction, Mani Ratnam also handles the story and screenplay department.
