Hema Malini to be honoured

The classic Bollywood ‘Dream Girl’ might be absent from the big screen these days, however her talent still reigns in people’s hearts…. Hema Malini is reported to be honoured with the Akkineni National Award for the year 2011.

Announcing the same recently in Hyderabad, the committee’s chairman, T Subbirami Reddy, said that the award will be presented to the veteran actress at a function to be held on 26th Dec., at the Hitex Convention Center, Hyderabad.

Subbirami Reddy was flanked by Akkineni Nageshwara Rao at the press meet held to make the announcement. Describing her as an evergreen actress, ANR said that Hema Malini was being honoured because she was such a talented actress and a world-famous danseuse.

The award was instituted in the name of ANR on the lines of the nationally-renowned Dada Saheb Phalke Award. For the records, the award went to renowned director K Balachandar in the year 2010.
