Hans Raj Chauhan, an ex-follower of the convicted chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has alleged that hundreds of 'sadhu' followers at the ashram had been fraudulently castrated.

A black-coloured tablet would be given to them hours before performing the castration. Once the tablet is consumed, they would lose their thinking abilities. They would silently submit to whatever is told by the 'Guru'. They would start believing that castration would bring them "closer to God".

Although it is only now that the media is highlighting the atrocities inside the ashram, the Baba's "misdeeds were being exposed by dissidents &victims since 2002 on social media," as the commentator Madhu Kishwar puts it. "But national media ignored them all these years," she adds.

Horribly, most of them were castrated while they were still minors. Some of them would be brainwashed to turn into criminals.
