Squadron leader Sidharth Vasisht's remains were created in Chandigarh with full army honours. His father Jagdish Kasal lit the pyre, and many people had come to give a send off to the brave warrior who lost life fighting enemies at the border.

Senior IAF officers and defence authorities, politicians placed wreath over his body, while his wife, squadron leader Aarti Singh too placed wreath. Besides this, wreaths were placed by IAF air staff chief and many prominent officials.

Siddharth Vasisht was from sector 44-C and had been killed in the M-17 helicopter crash in Budgam, Srinagar. A source close to Siddharth revealed that his ashes will be taken to his native Hamidpur near Naraingarh and later immersed into the Ganga.
