5 Reasons Why the India-England Match Will Always be Remembered

Yesterday’s match between England and India did not end as Indian fans would have expected, but it will still remain in our memories forever. With England posting a massive total of 337 on the board, the Men in Blue who sported their orange jerseys yesterday, had a huge task in front of them. Despite the huge score, the first innings itself saw some amazing contributions from the bowlers and fielders.

Mohammed Shami who has been on an absolute roll, picked up 5 wickets along with one maiden yesterday. Following the two 4 wicket hauls in the previous matches, Shami is continuing to play supremely well.

Another player who was absolutely fantastic yesterday was none other than Ravindra Jadeja. Though coming in as a substitute for KL Rahul, he made his presence felt with a superb catch of Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling, disturbing the rhythm of the opponents. He managed to get Jason Roy out with a catch that which will make the list of his best ones.

Now coming to the captain. After his 66 from 76 balls yesterday, Virat Kohli has become the first skipper to register 5 consecutive half-centuries in the history of the World Cup. Steve Smith also has the record to his name.

Rohit Sharma also impressed yesterday with 102 from 109 balls. His hundred makes him the second Indian after Sourav Ganguly to hit three centuries in a World Cup edition. His previous scores include 140 against Pakistan and 122* against South Africa.

The last reason the match will go down in history is that the British managed to unite India and Pakistan. The Pakistan fans were seen cheering for India yesterday. Well, that’s the power of cricket for you!
