Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said that views expressed by four serving Supreme Court Judges in Delhi yesterday are serious and can’t be neglected.  "Judges have said that there is a threat to democracy and we have to deal with them in a very careful manner," Rahul said while responding to the Judges' comments.

Justice Chellameshwar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madhan Lokur and Justice Kurien Joseph met the press yesterday in Delhi and made serious accusations about incumbent Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.  The press-meet, first of its kind and unprecedented in the country’s judicial history, sent shock-waves across the country; Rahul later consulted with senior Congressmen and legal luminaries such as Kapil Sibbal, P. Chidambaram, Manish Tiwari and Salmaan Khursheed.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Sarjwalla said that it was disturbing to note the Judges’ pent-up frustrated comments.  "Congress is deeply shocked by the turn of events; Judges' observations that cases were not allotted on the basis of seniority and that the CJI seemed to be acting on ‘instructions’ from the powers-that-be are causes of serious concern," he observed.

"The BJP-led Centre has failed grossly in resolving Judges’ issues and it should waste no more time in addressing the issues raised in the open by the Judges,” Rahul said and added that an inquiry should be ordered into the mysterious demise of Justice Lohya.  'Judges' remarks are serious in nature and can’t be neglected," he said and added that people want these resolved at once.
