Quite different from heroines who decide to quit their acting career with their marriage, Jyothirmayi is one actor who reaped great dividends on returning to acting after marriage. She has been doing more potential roles since her comeback and is cast in a number of roles in prestigious films.

After the news making item number in a Tamil film - Idhaya Thirudan, she has a busy life in Tamil films as well. Her second film Thalainagaram was also a super hit. She is doing a key role in the Tamil period film Periyar and also stars opposite Vijayakanth in Sabari.

In Malayalam, the V.K. Prakash-directed Malayalam film Moonamathoraal had her playing a central character. Then came the Malayalam films Chacko Randaman and Bada Dost. Her Malayalam film Pakal is due for release next month.

"I choose roles based on the merit of characters, judging them from an actor's perspective, on the basis of the script. And I never care whether it is the heroine role or not. I am more interested in the potential or scope of the character,” explains the actress on her priorities in the selection of roles.
