Keerthy Suresh wins Best Actress National Award

Keerthy Suresh has won the Best Actress National Awards for her stellar performance as legendary actress Savithri in 'Mahanati' dubbed in Tamil as 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam'. The biopic directed by Nag Ashwin also is the Best Film in Telugu language. In our review for 'Nadigaiyar Thilagam' we had written "It is an understatement to say that Keerthy Suresh has nailed her character to perfection. It would be more apt to say that Keerthy has played Savithri exactly like how Savithri herself would have acted in her own biopic." Read : Nadigaiyar Thilagam - Keerthy Suresh

'Balaram' directed by Priya Krishnaswamy dealing with the sensitive subject of elder abuse has been named the Best Film in Tamil.

As expected 'Andhadhun' directed by Sriram Raghavan has won the Best Picture Award, while Vicky Kaushal and Ayushman Khuranna have been adjudged joint Best Actors for their roles in 'Uri Surgical Strike' and 'Andhadhun'. The crime comedy also bagged the Best Adapted Screenplay award as well. Akshay Kumar's 'Padman' based on the true-life of Coimbatore based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham has been honoured as the Best Film on social issues.
