LG has announced the launch of its unique dual-screen smartphone, dubbed the 'Wing phone,' with a rotating form factor in a 23-second YouTube video, confirming that the phone will be unveiled on September 14.

The T-shaped smartphone will be the first model under the 'Explorer Projects,' that is apparently aimed to bring new smartphones with distinctive and yet unexplored usability experiences. According to reports, the LG Wing is expected to come with a 6.8-inch main screen coupled with a 4-inch secondary display with a 1:1 aspect ratio. Rumoured to be powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset, the smartphone will feature a 64MP primary camera. Pricing is expected to be in the $1,000 (approximately Rs. 73,000) range.

Speaking about the Explorer Project, LG reportedly stated, "Rave gives users wherever they may be the ability to communicate and enjoy streaming content together while Ficto, which pioneered revenue sharing for mobile content, aligned the global launch of its streaming service with the Explorer Project. Tubi, the largest ad-supported free streaming service is also an early partner of the Explorer Project." President of LG's Mobile Communications Company, Morris Lee said, "LG and platform partners feel it is vitally important to demonstrate to consumers new and differentiated user experiences in the smartphone space. LG has always been a pioneer in pushing the envelope of smartphone form factors, the only way to bring about much needed innovation in the mobile market."

Regarding the new line-up, the South Korean tech giant further added, "Explorer Project is a response to the diverse usage needs of today's smartphone customers and to deliver much-needed curiosity and excitement to the mobile sector. The initiative aims to explore and inject new life into untapped areas and reshape and expand the current user experience, with assistance from its trusted platform partners."
