Even after passing through a flurry of flops, and two poor openers this year itself, director Shaji Kailas seems to have learned nothing from them.  His latest `Madhirasi' with Jayaram as its hero is another movie that will be definitely adding up to his list of flops. A cliched movie in all terms, it neither has content or freshness to keep you glued into your seats. Moreover, the makers also seem to be in confusion whether to make it a comic film or an action thriller.

As usual with these dumber movies here also the hero Chandran pillai(Jayaram) , a widower and do- gooder   is the personification of all virtues. He is constantly followed by Bhama(Meera nandhan),  a school teacher ready to do anything to earn his affection and to be the mother of his son. And as you are introduced to the sidekick ready to die for the hero and other `properties' of the frames, the hero set of on a journey to Madirasi to buy a cycle for his child. The sudden mystery that develops following the missing of Johny (Kalabhavan Mani) who too was on to Madras to buy a brand new cycle, leads Chandran Pillai to take on certain evil forces whom the hero needs to find out and crush in the later half.

It's high time that the makers realise that the age of formula films is already done with in Mollywood and the viewers are in much an enlightenment mode looking for freshness in the narratives that they see on screen. The problem with the movie starts with the absurd script from Rajesh Jayaraman who had earlier provided the same for Shaji kailas in a couple of movies. But this time the writing is much more weaker than the earlier ones, with nothing much to salvage the movie. The former half is a mess leaving you confused and when you get on to tracks, the movie leaves you exhausted with little interest remaining on its averagely filmed action scenes. The technical sides of the movie are also typical. The BGM and songs by Satheesh Sujith are also mediocre while the actors like Jayaram can't even pull off this badly written role with any sort of believability. He also seems to be confused on what he has been asked to do. Meghana Raj as Maya makes an appearance from nowhere at times to add colour. Tini Tom is in another regular sidekick role.

In this interesting rate at which Shaji Kailas is churning out films, it needs to be said that the only way for him to get out his mess is to do proper homework. Or else no luck waits for him even in his next projects.
