When a film is titled 'Mathiyosi' meaning think different, obviously its music too should be quite different from the regular run-of-the-mill stuff. Debutant music composer Guru Kalyan seems to have taken it in his stride and has come up with a new and catchy score. The album has half-a-dozen songs that are alluring.

Produced by P S Sekar Reddy and directed by Nanda Periasamy, the movie stars Harish, Alex, Gopal, Visak and Shammu. Snehan has penned the lyrics.

1. Dhom Dhom - Listen here

Singer: Kalyan

A romantic song which is splendid, loud and strong. But the cooling factor has been the use of gentle flute interludes. Kalyan has sung it with gusto.

2. Aathili Pithili - Listen here

Singer: Malathi, Suresh, Kalyan, Sadha

A mass number that is racy and peppy all through. It is a romantic duet apparently aimed at front-benchers. The good use of percussion is a pleasure to listen. Guru Kalyan should be appreciated for not following a conventional pattern of Saranam or Pallavis here.

3. Methuvai Methuvai - Listen here

Singer: Karthik, Jeya, Rajagopal

Soft on ears, the song is interesting from the word go. Like a gentle evening drizzle, the number has everything to cherish for a melody-lover. The Thavil interludes are catchy. A classical backing from Guru Kalyan is evident in the number

4. Ponnu Iva Pootha - Listen here

Singer: Karthikeyan, Guru Kalyan

Heard of many such numbers from Illayaraja. A song set in an important stage of a girl's life has simple lyrics and good use of earthy rural instruments including Nadhaswaram. The duo of Karthikeyan and Guru Kalyan rocks.

5. Mathithan Yosidaa - Listen here

Singer: Prashanthini, Satyan

The title song of the album. It is a number that motivates one to think wild and free. The pace at which it progresses would make it very popular. Prashanthini and Satyan sing it with passion.

6. Acham Thavir - Listen here

Singer: Kalyan

Inspired by great poet Bharathiyar's Pudhiya Athichudi is this song. Quite like the Mahakavi himself, it is brimming with hope, joy and anger at places. This inspirational song gets more polished thanks to splendid use of violin.

All credits to newcomer Guru Kalyan. His songs are set in a fresh pattern and are sweet to listen to. The singers too impress. With immense talent, the music composer is sure to go places.
