The state government in a press note officially announced that the Nandi awards for the year 2009 would be presented to the winners on November 13.

The state government used to reward different departments in film-making, technicians, artistes in various categories in the form of Nandi awards.

These would again be categorised into first best, second best and third best and would be given Golden Nandi, Silver Nandi and Copper Nandi. SS Rajamouli’s film ‘Magadheera’ sweeped around nine precious Nandi awards for the year 2009.

Best director, Best Editor, Best Art Director, Best Choreographer, Best Audiographer, Best Costume Designer, Best Special Effects along with the Best Popular Feature Film Proving Wholesome Entertainment were bagged by Magadheera unit.

The hero of the film Ram Charan won the Special Jury Award for his performance. So far Lalita Kala Thoranam in Public Gardens used to be the venue for the presentation ceremony.
