Organic farming is like an atom bomb: Subhash Palekar

In recent times, we have seen how 'Maharshi' and Suriya's 'NGK' have promoted the cause of organic farming. In an interaction with organic farmers, Mahesh Babu said that he endorses it totally and has been taking care to consume only organic food for two years now.

Subhash Palekar, who created the method of Zero Budget Spiritual Farming, has blasted organic farming, lambasting that it is worse than the atom bomb. As per him, organic farming methods have a negative impact on the climate.

"I have discovered that Jeevamrutham, a mixture of the cow dung and urine, among others, suits the local conditions in India's different districts. About five million farmers have adopted my method in India," Palekar claims.

Also known as the Subhash Palekar Spiritual Farming method, it has received government support in Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chattisgarh and Kerala have also evinced interest.

However, economic commentator Rupa Subramanya says that the Subhash Palekar method is not good. "He was conferred the Padma by the Modi government in 2016 for pioneering zero budget farming. But many followers of ZBF have gone back to chemical farming cos production and income really fell!" she writes.
