Pakistan’s Hasan Ali cheers for India to win World Cup, deletes tweet later

The Pakistan cricket team has been on the receiving end of severe criticism after they lost by 89 runs (D/L method) to their arch-rivals India in the ICC World Cup match at the Old Trafford on June 16.

Following the criticism Pakistan’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed received for the poor performance of the team as a result of his poor decisions from almost the entire country, including former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, it is pacer Hasan Ali’s turn to be trolled. While the Indians were celebrity their victory over Pakistan, Hasan Ali joined in and congratulated India in a reply to an Indian journalist’s tweet.

“Congratulations #TeamIndia for the splendid win and giving us a moment to celebrate and to feel proud to be an Indian. #IndianCricketTeam let's capture the world cup now #CWC19,” the journalist’s tweet read. “Hogi ap ki dua pori congratulation (Translation: Your wish will be fulfilled, congratulations),” Hasan Ali replied to it. He deleted the tweet a couple of hours later after he was slammed by Pakistani fans for the same.

“Hasan Ali, who never shies away from jumping around at the Wagah border, couldn't apply himself when it mattered the most. Many of his deliveries were short-pitched." His mindset seems to be: I want to keep playing T20s and the PSL. But in the World Cup 2019, we can see that he has not shown any pace or swing that could trouble batsmen,” Akhtar criticized Hasan earlier.

Along with New Zealand, India remains the only other unbeaten team in the tournament.
