SHRC seeks report on TV5 journalist Manoj Kumars death

On June 7, TV5's crime reporter Manoj Kumar died of Covid-19 at Hyderabad's Gandhi Hospital. The 30-year-old journalist's tragic demise came a shock, as it exposed the state of affairs at the hospital.

More than 10 days after the tragedy, the State Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the famous hospital. Days after Manoj's death, the Journalist Forum for Telangana had filed a complaint with the SHRC, alleging medical negligence by duty doctors. The complaint said that the journo was not attended to by duty doctors even after he complained of breathlessness. Neither was he put in the ICU nor was he supplied oxygen.

The superintendent of the Gandhi Hospital will have to submit a report by August 17.
