Breezy songs, easy-as-pie lyrics
Saturday, January 28, 2012 • Telugu Comments

Selvaganesh brings forth an assortment of windy and quintessentially romantic numbers.  Ably helped by Vanamali and Krishna Chaitanya, he makes the album of SMS a stylish musical synergy.  This album is the one you should listen to in a gaily mood!

Idi Nijamey

Artists: Karthik, Ramina Reddy
Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya

The album begins with a peppy number that lingers in your mind long after you are done listening.  Selvaganesh composing has a touch of depth, while Karthik's vocals lend the quality of intensity.  The lyrics give voice to the honest feelings of the boy just consumed by love.

Cheeky Cheeky Baby

Artists: Chaitra, Anuj Gurwara, Hemachandra
Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya

Cheeky.. is Yuvan Shankar Raja-meets-SA Rajkumar.  The breezy song is peppered with simple yet pleasant lyrics.  The jerks in Hemachandra's vocals capture the electrifying mood that the boy has been visited by.

Mid Night

Artists: Ranjith, Krishna Iyer
Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya

The song makes for a good club number even though the music is a bit hackneyed.  Ranjith's vocals have the quality of usual youthfulness.  The quality of lyrics grows on you if you pay close attention to them.

Cheliya

Artists: Vijay Prakash
Lyrics: Vanamali

If you go by the way the song begins, that is like a lively Bollywoodian romantic, the rest of the song will catch you by surprise.  The melancholic mood that Selvaganesh's music induces is noteworthy.  The lyrics tell the hero's plight and loneliness in a very plain and simple language.  Vijay Prakash's vocals for this pensive song prove a novel choice.

Osi Penki Pilla

Artists: Shankar Mahadevan, Sumitra Iyer
Lyrics: Vanamali

Considering the singing talent that the song's credits boasts of, it is a bit of a let down.  While the song sounds like an irreverent folk number, Vanamali pens frivolous lines to the hilt.  Shankar Mahadevan lends a touch of ordinariness, while Sumitra Iyer's voice fits the bill.

Theme of SMS

Artist: Hemachandra

The intensity of the moment gives birth to a song like this.  The instrumentation, the lyrics, the voice, everything falls in place in right proportions.  The Theme makes for a suitable running song.
