South African fast bowler Dale Steyn on Tuesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He took to Twitter to share the news with his fans across the world. The legendary bowler had retired from Test cricket in 2019.

"And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe maybe this year will be better than last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself to hold on to these moments as they pass. It's been 20 years since training, matches, travel, wins, losses, strapped feet, jetlag, joy, and brotherhood. There are too many memories to tell. Too many faces to thank. So I left it to the experts to sum up, my favourite band, the Counting Crows," his statement read. Dale Steyn, who represented South Africa from 2004 to 2020, took 439 Test, 196 ODI and 64 T20I wickets.

The fast bowler added, "Today I officially retire from the game I love the most. Bitter sweet but grateful. Thank you everyone, from family to teammates, journalists to fans, it's been an incredible journey together." Reacting to the news, AB de Villiers said, "Great player, great man, amazing memories! U picker a good song to sign off my bud. Legend forever!" Players from across the world, including Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya, Kevin Pietersen, and Pat Cummins, among several others, offered their best wishes to Dale Steyn.
