Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal welcomed him in their presence in Delhi.

Soon after joining the party, the well-known action hero said, "The way my Papa (Dharmendra) worked with and supported Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, I am here today to work with and support Modi ji. My work will do the talking."

As per early reports, Deol will be contesting as MP from Punjab's Gurdaspur constituency.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that Deol has done the patriotic film 'Border', which "struck the right chord with its spirit of nationalism".
