Vijay Devarakonda’s Taxiwala is a multi-genre flick: Makers

Vijay Devarakonda is counting big-time on the very nature of 'Taxiwaala', a promising co-production of GA2 Productions and UV Creations.  So, what inspires the confidence in him that the film will be a blockbuster like 'Pelli Choopulu' and 'Arjun Reddy'?

Its genre.  Or should we say its multi-genre self?  It has a supernatural element.  It's a comedy.  It's a science-fiction.  It's a thriller.  Actually, if the makers are to be believed, there is more to it.  And it's a “high concept stressbuster” to boot!

"The teaser's striking visuals and interesting moments have impressed the audience," says director Rahul Sankrityan, who had earlier made 'The End'.  'Taxiwala', his first big film, for all we know, is a new-age entertainer.

What began as an idea has got the backing of a big production house.  As Allu Aravind recently said, “We decided to give them the space they need. In general, we do give suggestions but this time, we wanted to let the young energies do the bidding.”

Starring Priyanka Jawalkar, a Telugu girl, as the female lead, it also has Malavika Nair in a key role.

'Taxiwala' will hit the screens on May 18.  "For the audience in the US, Freeze Frame Films has planned a grand release, with premieres a day ahead," the makers add.
