When elder brother scolded Sachin after memorable Sharjah match

Remember the 1998 Sachin Tendulkar knock of 143 the Master Blaster scored against Australia during the Coca-Cola Cup at Sharjah? This is one of the most memorable knocks in the history of the sport. Surprisingly, however, the genius batsman received a scolding from his elder brother, Ajit Tendulkar, after the series. Read on to know the reason.

Due to the desert storm that day, India's target was revised from 285 from 50 overs to 276 from 46 overs. This added so much pressure on Sachin that he lost his cool and ended up scolding VVS Laxman during the play.

“I remember that a couple of times, my emotions came out and I ended up shouting at Laxman saying ‘run two, it’s my call, why aren’t you running?’ I received a scolding from my brother as soon as I reached home. He told me ‘these sort of things shouldn’t happen in the ground. He is your teammate, he is also playing for the team. It’s not your match alone; he is also playing with you’. I got a bit of a hiding at home,” Sachin has been quoted as saying by Scroll.in.

India entered the finals of the series based on net run rate.
