Why Modi & Jaitley keep silence on Rs.22000 cr. PNB fraud, asks Rahul

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has wondered what made Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley keep a ‘deafening silence’ on the issue of Rs.22,000 crore scam which has rocked public sector Punjab National Bank involving diamond merchant Nirav Modi.

Each day, details about Nirav Modi’s businesses and shady dealings are coming out in the open in the press. In its latest report on money frauds committed in Banks, the Reserve Bank of India has said that on an average, a fraud is committed in Banks once in four hours. It is in this backdrop that Rahul has taken the prime-minister and the Finance Minister to task on his latest Twitter posting.

“Modi speaks for two hours advising students how to fare well in exams; however, he doesn’t spare 2 minutes to talk about the Rs.220000 crore scam involving public sector Punjab National Bank. Surprisingly enough, even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has chosen to remain silent on the issue.

“I want to know what makes Modi and Jaitley keep silence? Instead of seemingly appearing as ‘not guilty’, it is high time that the Prime Minister as well as the Union Finance Minister came out with facts and conceded that the Govt. had failed in checking the money fraud,” Rahul posted thus on his Twitter account.
