In a pioneering effort, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment is involving itself in a very big initiative to propel and promote new writers.
Excel Entertainment has set up a system whereby people can write in with their scripts and can be evaluated by senior writers of the industry.
In three levels of scrutiny and exposure, scripts will get selected and developed. Excel has planned to pump in 1 crore for the initiative which will have 3 levels of scouting.
Level One: A group of writers will read the first draft and then can give feedback or recommend to level two.
Level Two: Headed by Javed Akhtar will evaluate the screenplay or can develop the screenplay by getting veteran writers involved.
Level Three: Farhan and Ritesh would see the possibility of final go ahead and converting it into film.
There will be one condition before submitting the film is that writer's script would have to be registered with the writer's association.
Also Excel Entertainment would be paying various writers to read scripts and submit evaluation reports. So that it is done extremely seriously.
The Idea here is to lay emphasis to writing of scripts, screenplay and give due importance on scripts.
Ritesh Sidhwani confirms the news and adds, "We have created a special account called firstname.lastname@example.org for writers to send their scripts to be scrutinised in different levels."
He continued by saying, "We have an option called 'Coverage' which is the feedback of the script. It will be returned to the writer if we don't make the film."
