Two weeks have passed by since the release of 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji'. Are you happy with the way it has performed?
Yes, I am. It has earned money for all and that is pretty satisfying, especially in today's times when not many films can boast of that (smiles). Having said that, I truly believe that it could have done better. We lost out on at least 4-5 crores, otherwise we could have easily crossed 35 crores nett just in India.
And why is that so?
Our film was given an 'A' certificate which did reflect on the opening. I know of families who wanted to watch the film but couldn't since they couldn't take their kids along. Our film hardly had anything that warranted an 'A' certificate but we had to given in eventually. Most of the reviews too pointed this out that the film could be comfortably watched by an entire family. To loose out on such audience was disappointing.
You also distributed the film yourself this time around so that would have given you chance to earn more moolah?
But then I have always been into distributing films. Also, I always keep one or two territories of my own films. So yes, there was good earning due to that in 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' as well.
Nevertheless, with the film ultimately turning out to be profitable for all, it must have been a welcome relief for you as well. Rumours are that you are thinking about launching a franchise of 'Dil Toh Baccha hai Ji', just like it is for 'Golmaal' o
I would wait for a while before making any announcement around this. Yes, there is a thought but let things get further concrete. Currently, 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji' is still running so let me enjoy this time period (smiles).
How about your own production plans? Last six months have been quite busy for you with 'Toonpur Ka Superrhero' and 'Aakrosh' arriving back to back as well. Are you planning to take a break and come back with full gusto?
There are definite plans and I should be announcing them very soon, perhaps in next few days itself. There would be multiple films going on floors.
