There are some music albums that deserve to be reviewed inspite of a later arrival in the market. 'Main Meri Patni Aur Woh' starring Rajpal Yadav and Rituparna Sengupta belongs to such category of abums as the songs for this Chandan Arora directed movie are now available, though the movie has been released for more than 2 weeks now. Nevertheless, after watching the movie, one liked the songs and hence it would only be fair to write a detailed review about the music that is composed by Mohit Chauhan, Rajinder Shiv and Nayab Raja
1) Doob Jaana Re [Singers: Sony Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, music : Rajendra Shiv, lyrics : Rocky Khanna]
This was a song that deserved to be promoted more aggressively and heard by many more than a select few who eventually heard it in theatres during the movie's run. A smooth sailing song, it boasts of some very impressive lyrics by Rocky Khanna. A beautifully written song, it has brilliant melody by Rajendra Shiv who provides variations in the flow of the track to make it unpredictable and highly enjoyable. Reminding of music from the 'middle-of-the-road' movies in the late 70s and early 80s, it is sung with all heart and soul by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. This love song would sadly go down as one of the most deserving song of the year that went down unheard. If you get a chance then do give it a hearing as you would surely fall in love with it!
2) Paintra [Singer: Mohit Chauhan, music : Mohit Chauhan, lyrics : Rocky Khanna]
After a romantic number comes the fun song 'Paintra'! A track about a man trying to prove his worth to the rest of the world and coming up with an open challenge, 'Paintra' was presented quite well in the movie with the lyrics fitting in very well with the situations that the protagonist 'Chote babu' was going through. A simple rhythmic song composed again in the old age style by Mohit Chauhan [who also sings the song], it is sure to bring a smile on your face, especially when you watch it on screen.
3) Guncha [Singer: Mohit Chauhan, music : Mohit Chauhan, lyrics : Rocky Khanna]
With 'Guncha', Mohit Chauhan changes 'paintra' as his voice comes across as completely different from the one that we heard in 'Paintra'. After a rhythmic fast track, he becomes all sober and moony eyed with the soft number 'Guncha' that requires a dedicated hearing sans any disturbance anywhere around. Each of the three principal areas - singing, music and lyrics - are the pillars of strength that are simply flawless. The track relies solely on Mohit's vocals as there are limited instruments heard faintly in the background. Now this is yet another track apart from 'Doob Jaana Re' that deserved a larger audience! Simply mesmerizing, the song also comes in an unplugged version and is enjoyable all over again!
4) Jadoo [Singers: Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan, music : Nayab Raja, lyrics : Zaheer Anwar]
A couple of songs from Kunal Ganjawala's last album 'Tere Bina' are taken to fill in MMPAW. Obviously these tracks do not appear in the album. 'Bardaasht Nahi Kar Sakta' [Humraaz] is revisited with 'Jadoo' that goes exactly the same path when it comes to beats, pace and sound design of the number. A run of the mill track, it doesn't have in it to be a long term preposition. Also, the overall packaging of the track lacks the punch to turn the song into a 'jump on the dance floor' kind of a number. Quite average, it just about manages to keep afloat.
5) Chand Varga [Singer: Naeem Shamim Ajmeri, Rajendra Shiv, music : Rajendra Shiv , lyrics : Rocky Khanna]
