Veteran actress Anjali Devi who passed away this week in Chennai was sent away with tears by the family and friends on Thursday. Her body was kept in Rama Chandra Hospital for the last 48 hours in waiting for her grandson and granddaughter to arrive from the USA.
The funeral was attended by stalwarts from Tamil and Telugu cinema and Political fraternity including Governor Rosaiah, playback singers P Susheela, SP Bala Subrahmanyam, veteran actresses Kanchana and Vyjayanthimala Bali, Producer K Murari, actors Sarath Babu, Sachchu, writers Bhuvana Chandra, Vennelakanti, Composer Saluri Vasu Rao, Dr. CMK Reddy etc.
Andhra Pradesh government made its callousness once again obvious by ignoring to send any representation for the ceremony as opposed to the TN Government's two ministers Valarmathi and Murthy. While the actress has been a resident of Chennai thru her career, she has been an integral part of the Telugu Film Industry for over five decades as an actress and producer. Senior Producer K Murari hit out at the AP Government saying that they didn't even recommend her for any honorary awards as they did with her contemporaries and juniors since she never begged anyone for such references.
