The Filmfare South award ceremony was held at HICC in Hyderabad on Saturday. Allu Arjun bagged the 'Best actor award' for his performance in 'Vedam' while Daggubati Rana took away the 'black lady' for his screen presence in 'Leader'.
Actress Samanta won the best debut heroine for her endearing role in 'Yem Maya Chesave'. Anushka Shetty was named the 'best actress' for her awesome action in as prostitute Saroja in 'Vedam'. Infact Vedam won Best Film and Best director awards too.
Physically challenged girl Abhinaya was declared 'Best supporting actress' for 'Sambho Shiva Sambho'. Her speech on the stage recieved thumping response from the audience.
A R Rahman was declared the best music director in Telugu for his melodious album ' Yem Maya Chesave'. Nagachaitanya recieved the award on behalf of Rahman. Ramajogaiah Shastri took away Best lyricist award for 'Mahesh-Khaleja'.
Geeta Madhuri was named the Best female singer for her song in 'Golimaar' while Karunya took away Best male playback singer award for his song in 'Mahesh Khaleja'.
Manoj Paramahamsa was best cinematographer for 'Yem Maya Chesave' in Telugu.
However, Filmfare team stirred up a controversy by not including 'Prasthanam' in nominations list. After wide spread criticism and petitions by film industry, Filmfare editor decided to give Prasthanam 'Critics Best Film Award'.
