Quite the obvious one, why were you away from Telugu for so long?
The answer is also obvious. I was away in Tamil. I got to do some interesting roles there. I did miss Telugu, though. Are you going to concentrate in Telugu alone now?It all depends on what kind of roles I get. Tamil also gave me nice break. I will do films depending upon the characters I get in it. I have an open mind. Language or other such considerations do not bind me.
Tell us about your projects in Telugu now
Sankranthi and Radha Gopalam. Both are heavyweight films. I have big roles in both the films. It is nice to have such characters. Both have great scope for acting.
Tell us about the film with Bapu (Radha Gopalam). He is such a veteran, isn't?
Yes, I am privileged. The film is going to be one of the highlights of my career. The movie, in which I am paired with Srikanth, has given enough fodder for my acting skills. It is not an everyday role. Bapu is such a professional and craftsman that it has been a huge learning curve for me working in the movie. It is like starting my career all over again.
Can you elaborate?Well, it is bit like this. Some nuances have come to my repertoire. Using the dialogues, the intonation, the visual expressions, everything is now a cerebral exercise. Bapu taught me to pay more attention to my eyes. Radha Gopalam will get me big recognition.
On the film Sankranthi? It is fun to work with Venkatesh. The film is a nice family entertainer. It has oodles of sentiments. I have a good character in it. You have got a name for yourself as a traditional and sari-clad actress. Any regrets?Actually I am proud of that. I am not against glamour per se. But it has to be stitched into the character. I prefer the role of a homely character and my costumes portray my role.
Do you have any particular dream character in your mind?Any role is what you make of it. Having said that I want some romantic love roles like that in Marocharitra.
Where do you go from here. Your future plans?I am in no hurry to marry. I want to do lot of roles before I can settle for marital bliss. I like to take life as it comes. |
