Karthikeya - Commendable effort
IndiaGlitz  [Saturday, May 31, 2014]

Shekar Chandra's new album lives up to the expectations.  Karthikeya, starring Swathi and Nikhil, has six songs in total and has a range of singers regaling us with their renditions.

Ramajogayya Sastry and Krishna Chaitanya pen the songs and the lyrics are as good as the vocals.

Artist: Ranjith
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

For a film starring Nikhil, a song of this genre is quite odd.  Yet, Ramajogayya's lyrics make it a song that is worth taking notice of.  The lines sound like they have been pulled out of a motivational speaker's note book.  Ranjith's vocals are apt.   The music is catchy and the instrumentation is modish.

Artist: Haricharan
Lyricist: Vanamali

The lyrics are in praise of the girl's beauty.  Haricharan simply fits the bill to render such a song.  Vanamali's lyrics are impressive.  The instrumentation is good enough.  The song does seem to have been coming with a mix of known tunes.

Inthalo Ennenni Vinthalo

Artist: Naresh Iyer
Lyricist: Krishna Chaitanya

The romantic number is best for its good vocals.  Naresh Iyer has that talent for lending a midas touch to his touch.  Krishna Chaitanya's lyrics given an expression to a boy who has just fallen in love.  Music wise too, this one is the album's best.  The instrumentation is exhilarating.

Punnami Vennelake

Artist: Haricharan
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

The situational song is perhaps the film's story-oriented one.  Ramajogayya Sastry's authentic words give full justice to the song.  Haricharan tweaks his vocals to suit the song's different milieu.  The music induces a sense of deja vu.

Inthalo Ennenni Vinthalo

Artist: Chinmayee
Lyricist: Krishna Chaitanya

The song is a repetition.  Chinmayee's soft voice makes us want to listen to the song as much as the male version.  The contrast is sweet and one wishes that Chinmayee had a voice of her own in the male version as well!

Rise of Karthikeya

Artist: Shekar Chandra

It's a musical with no lyrics.  One wonders what was the point in adding it to the album when it is not an innovation in any case.
