Mammootty's Karutha Pakshikal will release on 17 November. Directed by Kamal, the movie is about the ordeals of a poor Tamil migrant casual laborer in Kerala. Mammootty plays the role of Murugan, a Tamil laborer in the film.

Mammootty will appear in deglamourized outfits to feature in the role of an iron-man. He makes a living going door to door and irons clothes for the people. After completing the shooting for Bharghava Charitham, the shooting for Mammooty's Karutha Pakshikal commenced. After a serious of commercial films, Mammootty has ventured to do a serious role in this movie.

The last time he played a serious role was in Blessy's Kazcha. Meanwhile, the latest buzz doing rounds in Malluwood is that after the success of Keerthi Chakra, Major Ravi will do a film with Mammootty. The film will be produced by Sasi Ayyanchira and will be a Vishu release. Major Ravi pens screen play for the film. This film would also be a military story.
